At K918 Dog Training we have 4 core priorities:
- Animal welfare is first, always
- To help you develop a great relationship with your dog
- Give your dog appropriate outlets to do things they were designed to do
- Focus on how your dog feels while training and doing things with you
When we focus on these goals you will have:
- A dog that trusts you & actually listens to you
- A dog that no longer shows the problematic behaviors you’re trying to get rid of
Both of these can be achieved through our unique style of training that involves playing games – instead of bribing with treats.
Your dog may already enjoy playing with toys, but there is a VERY big difference between playing with toys and playing games. This is the biggest opportunity that owners are missing, and we are SO excited to teach you about the many benefits of play based training!

WHY WE USE PLAY
You’ve probably never heard of training a dog with play instead of treats, that’s because only a handful of people actually know how to do it.
Dogs naturally learn through play, and when it’s used well, play can teach them everything they need to know to function in society.
Obedience is also necessary, but we prefer to teach in the context of the game so you can have real control
The main objective of training through play is not just to tire your dog out.
1. First and foremost, it establishes the most important thing you need to be successful with your dog…a great relationship
2. Game play also helps teach your dog rules & consequences in a way they absolutely love

MEET THE TRAINER
Hey y'all!
I’m Shanell, the owner of K918 Dog Training.
My journey with dogs started VERY early in life, at the age of 1 my family got a Jack Russell Terrier and my obsession has continued to grow ever since.
By age 6 I was teaching Moe how to do tricks in the middle of my living room, no one showed me how & Youtube was not around back then, so it was just something that came naturally to me. Once I realized how to “speak dog” I developed a hunger to learn everything I could about them, reading countless books about different breeds and what traits each of them had; by age 10 I had become a dog expert & the go-to dog walker & pet sitter for my entire neighborhood.
Since then, I have spent my entire life training, walking, and pet sitting dogs of all shapes and sizes. I’ve volunteered thousands of hours at animal shelters helping teach dogs the skills they need to get adopted into loving homes. I am committed to continuously learning under the guidance of industry leading professionals so I can provide the best and most current methods of dog training possible for my clients.
My goal now is to help people live a better life with their dog, regardless of what problems they are struggling with.
